Sirens from the police cars and the blast from the fire engine, then the sweet roar of motorcycles, Bikes rolled in with shivering riders with warm hearts, looking for hot coffee and friends old and new. Thus begins the 9th annual Brotherhood toy run.
Not letting the temperature in the 30’s daunt these people full of Christmas cheer from bringing toys to the children. They ride again from Walter Gerrells, through downtown to Lake Carlsbad Park, with lots of onlookers along the way cheering them on.
For many years Santa’s helpers have gathered with leather and chrome, Harleys and Hondas, helmets and Antlers? Ummm Err anyway, The reason for the season is present in the middle of loud pipes and joyful laughter.
Often we get ask why, why brave the cold, why spend the time and effort on people you will never meet. The answer … simple. Sometimes it is as easy as knowing there is a child out there with a smile Christmas morning.
